Magician / Cleric / Shaman — The Pet Powerhouse

Post-patch Mag pets are the best in the game — 8,000 HP builds, water pet double-backstabs, earth pet tanking dragons. The Mag is the engine; healer plus slow is the recommended shell around it.

Overview

The July 14 patch made Magician pets the best in the game: players run them at 8,000 HP, the water pet double-backstabs, and Kora's earth pet has tanked Nagafen and Vox. If the plan is a pet tanking while you nuke, this is the engine. Compiled from the post-patch pet consensus; the Mag is the documented core and the support shell here — healer plus slow — is the standard recommendation around it.

The one hard rule: do NOT pair Mag with another pet class. One-pet-wins scoring reflects the game — a second pet only adds the difference, so the Necro or Beastlord slot is wasted next to a Mag. Cleric keeps you and the pet standing; Shaman slow plus Puma turns the pet into the whole damage plan.

Stances & Invocations

Stance

Channeler

All incoming damage −40% and channeling chance increased. Half the mitigated damage is charged to both mana and endurance (Strategy-reduced).

Cleric, Druid, Shaman, Necromancer, Wizard, Magician, Enchanter

Invocation

Recovery

Mana regen doubled and spells cost 5% less mana. Out-of-combat regen unaffected; the regen modifier stays active out of combat even when the invocation isn't.

Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, Shadow Knight, Druid, Bard, Shaman, Necromancer, Wizard, Magician, Enchanter, Beastlord

Empowering

Damage effects +20% (+10% per additional non-hybrid casting class) for 20% more mana. Healing effects +10% (+5% per class) for 10% more mana.

Cleric, Druid, Shaman, Necromancer, Wizard, Magician, Enchanter

Channeler (all three qualify) — 40% damage reduction lets a cloth trio stand and cast; Empowering scales the nuke-and-heal layer with the caster count.

Playstyle Notes

Send the pet, slow the target, nuke behind it, keep the Puma and heals rolling. Water pet for kill speed, earth pet when the target hits hard enough to need the tank. Everything that upgrades the pet upgrades the build.

AA Priorities

  1. Pet HP / pet damage lines — The pet is the build
  2. Quick Buff — Shaman — Puma and slow upkeep
  3. Healing crits — Cleric

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Strongest pet in the game right now, and it scales with every upgrade
  • The pet eats the damage — the softest trio bodies in the game never get touched
  • Slow plus heals behind it clears named camps on autopilot
Cons
  • Pet pathing is rough — bad terrain kills more runs than bosses do
  • One-pet-wins: pairs with nothing else that summons
  • Re-summon mid-fight is a full reset of buffs and Puma
