Ogre Monk / Necro / Bard — The Grandfathered Ogre
Classic XP's endgame sustain all-rounder with no priest — Bard primary via the grandfathered Ogre race-unlock loop. Evolved from the creator's beta BST/Nec/Brd that fought tier-2 raid bosses.
Overview
Documented from Classic XP's end-of-beta video (launch plan stated on camera) during July 2026 open beta (post-July-14 patch). Compiled guide, not an official write-up. Bard is the primary (stated outright).
Race: Ogre via the race-unlock loop — start ogre, unlock wood elf/half elf through the Freeport muffin+wine turn-ins (bard sneak handles faction), lock bard as the primary while wood elf, lock the trio, then race-change back to ogre ("grandfathered").
Endgame sustain all-rounder with no priest class. Evolved from the creator's beta BST/Nec/Brd that fought tier-2 raid bosses. Monk melee frame with mend; necro pets, lifetaps (crits return mirrored life with Critical Affliction), dots, and Screaming Terror mez to 55; bard song engine over the top — haste, regen, resists, slow. Ogre racial frontal-stun immunity replaces the ~35-point Steadfast Will investment ("just be an ogre and you never get interrupted"). Ogre size solved by necro skeleton form or a Guk shrink mask.
Launch week 1 update (TRACKER-2026-08-06): D4 Lord Nagafen SOLO clear day one at 50 — dot attrition, stance dancing, mote-pumped slow (−75 resist), Blade Stopper rune clicky, crit mend. Innoruuk D0 solo (swap to fire/poison — planes resist poison/disease). Vox D4 near-miss stopped by a slow-resist wall.

Playstyle Notes
Monk melee and mend up front. Necro pet, lifetaps, dots, and Screaming Terror mez. Layer the bard song engine — haste, regen, resists, slow. Manage the song twist: auto-twisted dot songs break your own mezzes. Skip Steadfast Will — the Ogre racial covers frontal stun immunity.
Launch week 1 (TRACKER-2026-08-06): D4 Nagafen day-one at 50 is pure attrition — keep dots rolling, dance stances for endurance, land the mote-pumped slow with −75 resist adjust, blade-stopper rune clicky for the hard swing windows, and lean on crit mend. Plane of Hate / Innoruuk D0: swap damage lines to fire/poison because planes resist poison/disease on the default kit. Vox D4 near-miss: slow would not stick (resist wall) — that is the known failure mode on that pull.
