Paladin / Monk / Enchanter — The Fresh-40 Raider
Brutal Static took this fresh to 40 self-found and killed Yael D0, Nagafen D0 and D1, and Vox D0 on camera. The engine is a charmed plate pet that Lay-on-Hands itself and off-heals you.
Overview
Documented from Brutal Static's on-camera runs: fresh level 40, self-found gear, 76 AA — Master Yael D0, Nagafen D0 (32,000 HP) and D1 (35,000 HP), and Vox D0 at 42 ("didn't do it at 40 cuz I didn't care"). Compiled guide, not his official write-up.
The engine is the Enchanter charm pet. Charm a Warrior or Paladin mob and it Lay-on-Hands itself and off-heals you — a self-healing plate tank pet for free. The Paladin's own smite-into-Lay-on-Hands loop does the damage, Monk mend and avoidance keep you alive, and Mage Hunter stance cut Nagafen's lava breath to a third of incoming on the D1 kill.
The D1 Nagafen kill dropped Cloak of Flames, Gaunt of Fiery Might, Orb of Dashan, three red dragon scales, and a Ruby Crown — the loot case for farming him at this tier.
Stances & Invocations
Stance
Mage Hunter
Incoming magical damage −50%, physical −20%. Every point reduced consumes equal endurance (Strategy-reduced).
Paladin, Shadow Knight, Berserker
Evasive
95% chance to evade all incoming attacks. Every point evaded costs 2 endurance, reduced by Strategy skill. Evasion fails without endurance or while feigning death.
Ranger, Monk, Bard, Rogue, Beastlord
Invocation
Divine
Spending mana heals the group member with the lowest HP percentage by that amount. Each additional wisdom class repeats the heal for 33% of the mana spent.
Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, Druid, Shaman, Beastlord
Recovery
Mana regen doubled and spells cost 5% less mana. Out-of-combat regen unaffected; the regen modifier stays active out of combat even when the invocation isn't.
Cleric, Paladin, Ranger, Shadow Knight, Druid, Bard, Shaman, Necromancer, Wizard, Magician, Enchanter, Beastlord
Mage Hunter against magic-heavy bosses (cut Nagafen's lava breath to 33% incoming); Evasive on the Monk side for trash. Smite guzzles mana — Recovery is not optional.
Key Abilities
Enchanter
| # | Name | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Charm SPELL | The engine — charm a Warrior or Paladin mob for a self-healing plate pet |
| 2 | Slow SPELL | Do not let it drop — that is what nearly ended the run |
Paladin
| # | Name | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Smite SPELL | On cooldown — feeds the Lay-on-Hands loop |
| 2 | Lay on Hands SPELL | The damage engine and the panic button in one |
Monk
| # | Name | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mend ABILITY | Mana-free heal — the second panic button |
Targets
| Target | Zone | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Master Yael | The Hole | D0 at fresh 40, whittled down |
| Lord Nagafen | Nagafen's Lair | D0 (32k HP) and D1 (35k HP) at 40, ~10 min kills |
| Lady Vox | Permafrost | D0 at 42 |
Playstyle Notes
Charm a plate mob, keep it healed and re-charmed, smite on cooldown to keep the Lay-on-Hands loop turning, and hold Mage Hunter against casters. The kill order that worked: Yael D0 first as the gate check, then the dragons.
Leveling to 40: Monk carries the damage the whole way. Grab Journeyman's Boots off Drelzna in Najena during the 19–25 band — there is no run speed anywhere in this trio.
AA Priorities
- Slay Undead — Paladin damage line
- Lay on Hands cooldown — More engine uptime
- Quick Buff — Enchanter — pet upkeep between charms
- Mend — Monk panic button improvement
Gear Notes
| Item | Source | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| FBSS | Dropped | Haste belt — his actual loadout |
| Shimmering Ruby Stiletto +6 | Dropped | Lower Guk |
| Baron's Blade +6 | Dropped | Elemental proc — his actual loadout |
| Cloak of Flames | Dropped | Nagafen D1 — farm it with this build |
| Journeyman's Boots | Quested | Drelzna, Najena (19–25) — no run speed in this trio otherwise |
Pros & Cons
- Kills raid bosses at level 40 in self-found gear — the cheapest raid entry documented
- The charmed plate pet is absurd value: a tank that heals itself
- Mage Hunter turns dragon breath fights into gear checks you pass
- Charm management — breaks mid-fight mean instant chaos
- Mana-hungry: smite drains the bar, which is why the third slot often goes Necro instead
- Ceiling is D1 — this is the entry raider, not the D4 answer
